Benefits of Marriage

The following is an abridged excerpt from the book, "Does Anyone Speak Female?" written by Ron Biagini.

Marriage is a blessing from God. It was never intended to be drudgery or one’s cross to bear through life. On the contrary, it should be a privilege and an honor. There are many benefits the married person may take for granted. Here are a few reminders:

1. Marriage is exclusive.
Like any exclusive club, membership has its privileges. Only the two of you can enjoy the accommodations and utilize the amenities. All the benefits and perks to this relationship are solely yours. No outsiders allowed.

2. Marriage gives you bragging rights.
The Bible tells us that finding a good wife is like searching for hidden treasure. When you find it, you rejoice and want everyone else to know about it too.

3. Marriage produces companionship.
Companionship within marriage can and should be wonderful. To have your best friend by your side is a huge benefit, and one we often take for granted.

4. Marriage promotes intimacy.
While intimacy is so much more than lovemaking, statistical research reveals that married couples boast of greater sexual satisfaction over their unmarried counterparts.

5. Marriage enhances personal growth.
Marriage does enhance personal growth…if you’ll allow it to. You will be given ample opportunity to listen, communicate, resolve conflicts, practice kindness, exercise patience, sacrifice, trust, and forgive.

6. Marriage increases longevity.
Married individuals purportedly have better health and, ultimately, enhanced mortality rates because their lifestyles are more conducive to routine and stability.

7. Marriage requires accountability.
Within marriage there is a healthy form of accountability that is not only beneficial to the union, but also to the husband and wife individually. These can promote trust, respect and honor toward your spouse.

8. Marriage builds family stability.
Being married offers the best environment for building a stable family. Raising a family as a husband and wife significantly increases the children’s chances for success.

9. Marriage offers financial security.
Research shows married couples are more financially secure than their single counterparts. Married people try harder and earn more for the sake of the family.

10. Marriage improves household support.
Being married gives you a domestic partner for emotional and physical support. Unified you are so much stronger than simply twice your individual contributions.

11. Marriage yields shared experiences.
Shared experiences bond us to one another. Every day is another opportunity to create new memories.

12. Marriage produces spiritual partnership.
Spiritual unity between a husband and wife is powerful. As the two of you strive individually for an improved relationship with God, you will be drawn nearer to one another.

It's time to enjoy all the benefits of marriage that God intended.
